We met each other about 8 years ago in Round Rock, Texas. A mutual friend introduced us to each other at a local sushi bar that we frequented. Right away we found that we had mutual interests, and in particular, we bonded over the game of baseball. To this day, we agree to disagree who the best player in the game is.
Over the next 7 years we got to know each other better, seeing each other often at UFC fight nights, at local restaurants, or at the sushi bar where we met. Every encounter was filled with jokes and amazing conversations. Neither one of us can really explain why we never exchanged numbers and why our encounters never lasted beyond the moments that we shared amongst friends. We like to believe that the timing just wasn’t right and our hearts were growing to love and respect each other on a deeper level.
It was early 2015 when we officially exchanged numbers and started spending time together without “the group”. This developed after a Friday evening of cocktails and conversation with friends. When others were ready to go home, we were so deep in conversation that ending the evening did not seem like the right course. Together we relocated to a different venue and continued our evening. It was that night that we started planning outings together such as camping trips and baseball games. Dinners together no longer included a group, just the two of us growing closer to each other. The transition happened so smoothly that neither one of us can pick the “official first date” from all our times together. Regardless of the date, it was very quickly recognized that we had something special and that we wanted to spend our lives together.
