FAQs
About the Cruise…
If you are planning on joining us on the cruise, you can book your room a variety of different ways. We booked on Costco Travel because we liked their perks better than the rest. But you can also book on Princess or through a travel agency. We have not used Zoe's Cruises and Tours but have heard good things.
What you need to know to find the correct cruise…
Cruise Line – Princess
Ship – Ruby Princess
Destination – Alaska
Cruise Length – 10 days
Dates – September 14-24, 2023
Start/End Port – San Francisco, CA
Prices vary depending on the location of the room, and how many people are in your room.
What we need to know when you book your cruise…
Please message Alyson your confirmation number and room number, and all the names in your party. This helps us with wedding logistics.
Documents you need before booking…
You will need a valid driver’s license or ID, passport and/or certified birth certificate in order to travel. If you need to get your passport, we recommend paying for expedited processing to ensure you get your passport on time. If you need to get your passport, you also need your valid social security card, and your certified birth certificate. These documents take time to get, so if you plan on going, this needs to be done quickly.
I/We have never cruised before, where should we book our room?
Interior is going to be the cheapest option. However, it doesn’t have any windows. There are also rooms with port holes, windows, and balconies depending on your pricing option. If you tend to get motion sick, the middle of the ship is best for rooms because there tends to be less rocking.
Where are we registered?
Your presence at our wedding is a big enough gift.
However, if you feel like gifting us something, we are only registered with Honeymoon Wishes. Most of the items are for “Princess Cruises Trip Contribution” because Honeymoon Wishes has a cap on how much we can get in shipboard credit. Additionally, if we don’t use all of our shipboard credit, we lose your generous gift.
Are we having a local wedding reception?
Yes. We understand going on a 10-day cruise is a huge commitment, so we will be having a local wedding reception for our friends and family who would still like to celebrate with us. We do not have a date set for this, but please send back your RSVP card so we know to send you an invitation when we have more details.
Why are we getting married on a cruise? And why Alaska?
Alyson’s paternal grandparents would take the family on SKI trips. None of us knew how to ski, but we would go on mostly cruises to travel. Occasionally, we would fly, drive, or take a train, but the cruises were the most memorable. S-K-I stands for Spending Kids Inheritance. From going on these SKI trips, Alyson’s grandparents have taken her on 6 cruises, half of which were to Alaska. Since her grandparents have since passed, Alyson wanted a way to have them with her on their special day, so a cruise to Alaska seemed like the perfect way to honor them.
We also get a honeymoon and wedding rolled into one!
Is it going to be cold?
Probably…it’s Alaska. However, the wedding will take place indoors.
Do you have to spend all your time on the cruise with us?
Absolutely not! This is your vacation too. You’re joining us for our ceremony, the rest of the time is up to you! However, you are more than welcome to join us for activities on the ship, on excursions, or walking around the ports.
Which excursions did we sign up for?
Juneau – Helicopter Tour of Mendenhall Glaciers and Salmon Bake
Skagway – Rail, Summit, & Suspension Bridge w/Brunch
Ketchikan - Ziplining
Prince Rupert – Haven’t decided yet
What date are you getting married?
September 16, 2023 at 2 PM. We will update with a location on the ship when we have a better idea of how many people will be attending.
How will I know what day it is?
This seems like a silly question, but on cruises, it is easy to lose track of dates and time. Princess Cruises usually prints out a schedule of activities for the day. We will be at sea for our wedding ceremony.
